Police prepares new evictions from anti-coal protest camp in Hambach forest - report

Tageszeitung

German police are preparing a new round of evictions from tree houses built in protest against lignite mining in Hambach forest, . The local administration said the order to clear the protest camp was based on fire protection laws, and that evictions will not start before next week.
Hambach forest has become a focal point for Germany’s protest movement against lignite mining. Anti-coal activists have held out in the forest for years. In October, a court ruling halted a massive police operation to clear the embattled ancient woodland to make room for a nearby lignite mine by energy company RWE.
