Protests in some cities - modelled after the French "yellow vest" protests, but on a much smaller scale - have rallied against bans on older diesel cars, critics still argue a fast transition to e-mobility is impossible, and “more than half of western European car managers expect electric mobility to fail” according to a 2018 , The Verge reports.
Still, Germany’s largest car manufacturer, Volkswagen, has set itself ambitious e-vehicle targets. In the aftermath of the dieselgate scandal, VW has embraced a radical shift in strategy, and is set to become one of the world’s largest electric vehicle producers.
