Development ministers of the seven leading western industrialised states (G7) are meeting in Berlin on 18-19 May to discuss the German G7 presidency’s plans for so-called Just Energy Transition Partnerships. These cooperation schemes are intended to activate private and public financing on a large scale for specific investments, for example for a socially just coal phase-out, the expansion of renewable energies or the creation of new jobs in regions particularly affected by structural economic change, .

Forging a new alliance for global food security as a reaction to the risk of a food crisis caused by Russia’s war against Ukraine would top the meeting’s agenda, said development minister Svenja Schulze.
