Sustainability strategy for Germany鈥檚 2024 European Football Championship bid
The German Football Association (DFB) has published a sustainability concept for its bid to host the 2024 UEFA European Football Championship (UEFA Euro 2024), which includes a 100 percent renewable electricity goal, as well as the plan to develop 鈥渁mbitious climate protection targets.鈥� 鈥淕ermany is considered the world over as a pioneer in climate protection and has committed to the Paris Agreement. We therefore feel it only obvious that UEFA Euro 2024 also make a contribution to achieving the climate protection goals and takes suitable measures to keep the tournament鈥檚 climate impact to a minimum,鈥� says the concept, which was developed in partnership with the Institute for Applied Ecology (脰办辞-滨苍蝉迟颈迟耻迟), and not requested by UEFA as part of the official bid book. UEFA will appoint the host of Euro 2024 in September 2018.
